I took my own Info Sys 12 class to the IWB. We covered some hard algorithm trace table activities. Students took turns highlighting the algorithm code and then translating that into an action on the trace table. They were the quietest and most engaged that I have ever seen them. They also enjoyed working together to get the correct outcomes. One student remarked that the IWB made learning “boring” things fun. I was just glad to see the lights come on about some of the things that they have been struggling with.
I guess these IWBs are pretty engaging.
Scot Cox came in to have a look. We are looking into using it with the graphics calculator emulation program for his TEE classes.
Reflection:
I have considered the IWB as something to engage the low ability students. However based on these test uses, it appears that it might be a tool to help improve TEE results as well.
